Director Statement
“MAX” is about hope and moving on to the next chapter of life in a weird but funny way. I always see my film as a cathartic experience that helps anyone, including me, when we’re in a bad state to express our feeling with the characters and let go all the annoyance. In this cruel world, there should be a place for everyone and their little desire and hope to stay peacefully without judgment, which is why I chose the most unfairly treated place, people and the plot to tell this story. Psych ward is not for crazy people, it’s a place to strip your camouflage, tell your truth and start connecting with others and their emotion. Sometimes I believe that we are all belong to psych ward at some points because there is no way to not get defeated and feel helpless in the entire life, and if we can all get helped in time, nothing can really devastate you at all.
